1. Introduction & Application
FT-YJS-058 Automatic Insulating Oil Dielectric loss and electrical resistivity tester is used for measuring dielectric dissipation factor and DC resistivity of insulating oil and other insulating liquids. The instrument integrates with test oil cell, temperature controller, temperature sensor, dielectric loss test bridge, AC test power, standard capacitor, high resistance meter, DC high voltage source and other major components.
Transformer oil dielectric loss testing equipment is used both at the stage of checking the quality of oil before feeding it into the transformer and during the use of oil in the transformer.
The primary enemies of transformer oil are oxidation, contamination, and excessive temperature. High values of Tan Delta commensurate with reduced levels of Resistivity indicate the presence of polarised contaminants, such as moisture, particles and fibres. This testing is a sensitive way to check for contamination when purchasing unused new oil, determining the progress of the oil purification process and for quality control of oil in service.
2. What Is Tan δ, Or Tan Delta? What is Resistivity?
Tan Delta, also called Loss Angle or Dielectric Dissipation Factor (DDF) or Power Factor (PF) testing, is an electrical dielectric test on the insulating oil used to determine its quality. The test is performed at two temperatures. Information from each test and the results considered together may form the basis for making a judgment on whether it's suitable for a transformer to continue in service and for determining when the replacement or regeneration of the transformer oil is needed.
Resistivity is another indicator of oil's electrical quality, particularly apropos for used oil. Resistivity is an intrinsic property that quantifies how strongly a given material opposes the flow of electric current. A low resistivity indicates a material that readily allows the movement of electric charge. For a DC resistivity measurement, a specified DC voltage is applied to the cell, and after one minute, the current flowing between the electrodes is measured. Average resistivity values are calculated from readings taken after direct and reverse polarity. It is noted that cell electrodes should be short-circuited for a prescribed amount of time (which may vary by standard) between direct polarity and reverse polarity measurements and also between Tan Delta and resistivity measurements.

4. Functions & Features
1). The test cell adopts the three-electrode structure according to national standard GB/T5654-2007, with electrode spacing 2mm, which can eliminate the effects of the stray capacitance and leakage on dielectric loss test results.
2). The instrument adopts the medium frequency induction heating, PID temperature control algorithm. This heating method has the advantages of non-contact between the test cell and the heating body, uniform heating, fast speed, convenient control, and strictly control of the temperature within error range of the preset temperature.
3). Internal standard capacitor is SF6 gas-filled three-electrode capacitance, and its capacitor dielectric loss and electrical capacity are not affected by ambient temperature, humidity etc., so that the instrument accuracy can be ensured even after prolonged use.
4). AC test power supply uses AC-DC-AC conversion, which effectively prevents the fluctuations in mains voltage and frequency from affecting the dielectric loss measurement accuracy. Even use a generator, the instrument can work properly.
5). Perfect protection function. When there is over voltage, over current or high-voltage short circuit, instruments can quickly cut off high voltage, and issues a warning message. When the temperature of the sensor failure or not connected, the instrument will also issue a warning message.
6). There is a temperature limiting relay in the medium frequency induction heating furnace. When temperature above 120 degrees, the instrument frees the relay and stops heating.
7). Convenient test parameter setting. Temperature setting range 0~120℃, AC voltage setting range 200~2200V, DC voltage setting range 0~500V.
8). Using of large TFT touch screen, with backlight and clear display. With simply set up, the instrument can be automatically tested. And automatically store and print test results.
9). Built-in real-time clock, the test date and time can be saved, displayed and printed with the test results.
10). Calibration functions of cleaned dry cell. The measurement of dry cell's capacitance and dielectric loss factor can determine its cleaning and assembly conditions. The calibration data is automatically saved and so that it facilitates the calculation of relative permittivity and DC resistivity.
11). The instrument takes the RAM9 platform as the core, the test accuracy is high and the speed is fast. The whole device is controlled by high-speed single-chip microcomputer, with high automation and easy operation.
