The Cumulative Container Throughput Of My Country's Maritime Silk Road Shipping Routes Has Exceeded 26 Million TEUs

The "Silk Road Maritime" shipping route, as my country's first international shipping and logistics platform serving the Belt and Road Initiative, continues to develop rapidly, providing strong momentum for global trade and regional economic cooperation.

Recently, a batch of New Year's goods, including couplets and candies, as well as electromechanical products, were loaded at Xiamen Port in Fujian Province. Using the "Maritime Silk Road" shipping route, these goods can reach ports in Southeast Asian countries in just two days, saving 2-5 days compared to traditional routes.

The latest data shows that in 2025, the throughput of container shipping lines on the "Maritime Silk Road" exceeded 5.4 million TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 9.11%; and the volume of goods transported on bulk and general cargo shipping lines exceeded 12.27 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 26.4%.

As one of the key projects of the 14th Five-Year Plan, the "Maritime Silk Road" is an important initiative for my country's high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. Since the first route was launched in Xiamen in 2018, the "Maritime Silk Road" container shipping routes have cumulatively handled over 26 million TEUs, and the bulk and general cargo routes have transported over 34 million tons of goods. The number of shipping routes has increased from the initial 16 to 148, covering important economic regions such as Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, connecting 150 ports in 48 countries and regions worldwide.
